How to protect the Citizens of Wellington

I've been thinking that Wellington needs a home owners and tenants union to protect the citizens from developers and people who get elected into public office by telling lies and acting in an unethical manner. This union should look after the public interest of the ratepayers and renters of the city. It should have as its mission the informing and protecting the public by its own media. What do you think?

Cheers
Bryan

That sounds like a great idea!
It would be even better if this could be achieved in a democratic way, with the help of WCC and its duly elected Mayor, as a sign of good will to its citizens.
The fact that we, the citizens, have to resort to forums like the one suggested by Bryan, reflects a lack of faith in the current consultation systems and/or the lack thereof.
More importantly, these systems need to be consolidated with central government as the Census simply can't keep up to be a reliable source of up to date statistical information.
Maybe we should have a Census every 3 years in order to keep up with "developer friendly" environments, much like the one we live in right here in Wellington, so it can match the infrastructure needed to support this or any "unexpected" growth

SAVE WELLINGTON.....vote next time!

Yes Bryan that would be a good idea we are worried about the future for Wellington as parents of two young boys. The struggle to access ones own home is getting harder and harder as prices rise beyond reasonable forcing the gap between rich and poor to the point where the regular family is forced out of this region to look elsewhere. We both grew up in Wellington and want the same for our children but it is becoming somewhat of a luxury now more for the elite. We are voting for you again next time in the hope to save Wellington. Thanks for all your hard work
