THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE OF 2008 / CAN WE SURVIVE WITHOUT OIL?

THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE OF 2008 / CAN WE SURVIVE WITHOUT OIL?
If T. Boone Pickens is correct, Americans shouldn't be too enthusiastic about either presidential candidate when it comes to achieving energy independence for the nation. In a talk with the editors of 40 business journals from the American City Business Journals Inc. group, the billionaire investor portrayed both Republican John McCain and Democrat Barak Obama as naive concerning the scope of the energy crisis and its potential solutions. "They don't understand energy," Pickens

We should ask the same question of those contending the election here in New Zealand in order to decide our vote on Saturday 8 November!

To all oil consumers,

As an early 1970's oil crisis survivor I can report that at a recent political gathering with the candidates for Central a dicussion took place about taking action along similar lines as the Netherlands had to.

A pro-Israel statement by our Minister of Foreign Affairs rocked the OPEC nations and they replied swiftly by cutting our supplies. The Dutch Government, thinking on their feet, issued "everyone" with petrol vouchers. I handed these 1970's petrol vouchers to all the candidates to remind them, all but one kept these vouchers, Steven Franks returned his reminder with thanks.

Just like the Dutch nobody is ready to survive without oil we need to act now and make it everyone's responsability and while we have this precious resource we must use it wisely to prepare ourselves for the bad times.

We can't blame the politicians for our way of life but we can make them take responsability "collectively" and not use it as a political tool to gain votes, this is how we got to this point in the first place.

Good Luck and VOTE NEW ZEALAND
