Bryan, sorry you didn't win the mayoralty, believe me I'm sorry - especially today as the reality of a mayor who sees no value in motorcycles sinks in. Mercer street is now a cash-cow for cars, goodbye Wellington's last motorcycle park.
Staggering hypocracy from someone opposed to cars, but hardly surprising given that the cycle-mad 'green' mayor hired a 54 seat Scania bus, the largest possible, and drove around town all day with just 8 people on board. With such a light load I believe they 'only' consume around 55 litres of diesel per 100km.
What can we do? Bikes are great for the environment, scooters even more so, but if you get to work and can't park, and don't even have the option of paying to park, then faced with the heavy-handedness of Parkwise your ONLY option is to ride back home and drive your CAR to work.
Madness.
