Since the making of this public video I have been approached by 2 councillors in favour of the buses through Manners Mall and another interested party to remain anonymous for now.
Said councillors and Mr.X have asked me to get involved with the pedestrianizing of Lower Cuba Street. I would like to make the following statement: "Saving Manners Mall was my one and only objective".
Futhermore I don't support the Golden Mile Proposal period based on the cost layout of $11.1 million to destroy public space for a private two way bus-lane risking public health and safety and taking away quality of life from residents who live there.
We must focus on the retailers affected by this plan and insist on compensation from WCC for the disruption to their businesses during construction, and the noise and air pollution after completion when 140 buses per hour thunder through the street in both directions.
You are invited to a meeting for the Manners Mall retailers on the 26th of June 2009 at the Central Library on the mezzanine floor starting at 7.00pm
Benjamin Easton a political busker will be addressing the possible loss of income to the retailers and discussing the faulty process of consultation used by WCC.
